Tattoo Aftercare

Protect the art. Respect the process.

Proper aftercare is essential to ensure your tattoo heals well and maintains its clarity, detail, and longevity. At Vellum Ink Tattoo Studio, we consider aftercare an extension of the tattoo process itself. What you do after leaving the studio matters just as much as what happens during the session.

Immediately After Your Session

Your tattoo will be cleaned and protected before you leave the studio. Keep the initial covering on as instructed by your artist. This helps protect the tattoo from bacteria, friction, and irritation during the first critical hours.

Cleaning & Care

Gently clean your tattoo with lukewarm water and a mild, fragrance-free soap. Pat dry using a clean towel or paper towel. Do not rub. Apply a thin layer of the recommended aftercare product to keep the skin hydrated without suffocating it.

Clean your tattoo regularly, especially during the first few days, and always with clean hands.

Healing Period

During the healing process, it is normal to experience redness, mild swelling, and peeling. Avoid scratching, picking, or removing scabs, as this can affect the final result. Let the skin heal naturally.

For at least two weeks, avoid swimming, soaking, saunas, and direct sun exposure. Wear clean, loose clothing to prevent friction and irritation.

Long-Term Care

Once healed, protect your tattoo from excessive sun exposure by using sunscreen. Proper care over time helps preserve contrast, detail, and overall quality, ensuring your tattoo ages well with your skin.

Ongoing Support

If you have any questions or concerns during the healing process, we encourage you to contact us. We are always available to provide guidance and ensure your tattoo heals safely and correctly.

At Vellum Ink, aftercare is part of our responsibility. Because meaningful tattoos deserve proper care, long after the session ends.
